Bio Laura Blair Bodden (b. 1982, Pleasanton, TX USA) is a contemporary artist who works primarily in photography. Her work investigates liminal space, the idea of an in-between space and a space of transition. This is done by inventing a setting for liminal space to exist within by creating shadows from constructed landscapes to capture them within the camera. Process is an intricate and detailed part of her practice, building and constructing the subject matter for her photographs. With her work, Bodden thinks in narratives and speaks with imagery that is both beautiful and awkward in the same moment. She creates images that speak to time and space, using imagery that plays on the border where imagination meets the real.
Bodden has been included in several juried and curated group exhibitions including Texas National SFA Gallery, Nacogdoches, TX 2022; 6th Louisiana Biennial Exhibition, Louisiana Tech Gallery in Ruston, LA in 2022 Her work comes from a personal place that is linked between her childhood and adulthood experiences. Growing up in a small south Texas town has influenced her work throughout most of her artistic career. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts with an emphasis in photography in 2012 from the University of Texas at San Antonio and received her Master of Fine Arts in Studio Arts in 2015 from the Maine College of Art in Portland, ME.
