Altered Landscapes

There are moments in life when we wish we were somewhere else. These moments were prominent for me as a child. I had a need to create environments that I could escape within. I would close my eyes and pretend I was somewhere else…anywhere else. These environments were created to replace the reality of my childhood even if it was only for a few minutes; grand stories played out within these locations. Altered Landscapes are physical creations of environments that I continue to imagine as an adult during moments of stress as well as moments of relaxation. Each scene has been constructed using miniatures, found objects, and hand-built sets. These images were captured using a scanner to emphasize the shallowness of their focal depth of field.
